Wednesday, 17th May 2006
Leeds Rhinos hero Barrie McDermott paid a visit to the Morfitts site team during their work on the prestigious new Carnegie Stand at Headingley Carnegie Stadium in Leeds, which was competed this Autumn.
Working with main contractor Caddick Construction, Morfitts was awarded the £900,000 contract to install the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services on the project.
Developed in partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University and situated at the eastern end of the Rugby Stadium, the new Carnegie Stand provides seating/standing accommodation for 4550 spectators, together with teaching facilities including 12 seminar rooms, a major facility for up to 350 people and a HelpZone. The stand gives LMU a permanent base at the stadium and will strengthen the already strong relationship between the University and Leeds Rugby.
Barrie commented: “This new Carnegie Stand is a fantastic addition to the facilities we have on offer at Headingley Carnegie, and it is great to have had Morfitts working with us on this project. As well as being staunch supporters of Leeds Rugby they have been involved in many projects on this site and it was a pleasure to meet the Site Team.”
