Quicker, safer and cleaner – these are the key benefits of using prefabrication techniques, according to Carl Turner, M&E project manager on the £2.4 million building services contract being delivered by Shouksmiths at the Manor Mills residential development project in Leeds. Working with their Leeds-based trading division, Morfitts, Shouksmiths are providing another ‘complete package’ solution to the client, for the third time in the last four years
The project, will have over 300 prefabricated bathroom pods installed by Shouksmiths, all of which will be hoisted into position, ready to be connected to the mains services.
Carl Turner said: “Whilst we have experience of using prefabrication, this is the first time we have used it on a residential project and we are delighted with the result. As well as the time and cost savings it brings, site coordination and scheduling is far easier which in turn creates a cleaner, safer site.”
Manor Mills is a joint development with the award winning Yorkshire-based company K W Linfoot plc and the world-renowned residential developer, YOO. The ‘complete package’ solution, which comprises all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and specialist services, is proving increasingly popular with clients in the commercial, industrial and large residential sectors.
