National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies

SummitSkills, the sector skills council for our industry, has launched a National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies, supported by funding from both Government and the industry itself.

The Academy will work with industry and training providers to ensure that companies who operate in new sustainable areas and technologies have access to an appropriately skilled and trained workforce. Areas covered include such things as the installation and maintenance of photovoltaic panels, ground source heat pumps and bio-mass systems.

It is proposed that during the first five years the Academy aims to deliver a significant number of training courses operated via specialist training ‘hubs’ and accredited training providers throughout England.
