Shouksmiths and Morfitts have jointly been named as a finalist in the 10th Annual Building Services Awards, organised by the Building Services Journal and Electrical and Mechanical Contractor magazines.
The company, which has both its Head Office and an operating Division in York, was short listed against four other companies from across the UK in the highly contested ‘Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Contractor of the Year’ category.
The project selected for the entry was The Plaza student accommodation project in Leeds, which was led by M&E Project Manager David Shouksmith, a descendant of the company’s founder Jonas Shouksmith. David, along with other representatives from the company, attended the glittering ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on June 25th, with of over 1,000 guests from the whole of the construction industry.
John Miller, Managing Director of J H Shouksmith and Sons Ltd. said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been named as Finalists in the Building Services Awards and be recognised as one of the best building services companies in the UK.
It seemed highly appropriate that we selected The Plaza project, led by David Shouksmith, to focus on for this Award. Working with Main Contractor Carillion, we delivered a ‘complete package’ to the client, on time and on budget last Autumn. Due to the success of this project, Carillion has recently awarded us a contract to work on another student accommodation development, Concept House in Leeds, for the same client, Unite, the UK’s number one student accommodation and hospitality company. David Shouksmith is once again leading this project, which has already started on site.”
